This is truly a cook’s kitchen. Our homeowner is well-known north of Richmond as a restauranteur and caterer. Her kitchen was last updated in the ’80s and was well past its prime. She wanted an updated kitchen that was warm and inviting with plenty of space to create new recipes, entertain her growing family, and store her impressive collection of antique service ware. A lowered counter area allows her space to make homemade bread or sit while chopping vegetables for a large crowd. The cook top and sink backing up to each other, though unconventional, works well for her prep and clean up. Her large antique table gives additional space to layout service pieces when her family isn’t gathered for a meal. The mix of off white and moss green cabinetry, wood accents, and open views to the surrounding woods allow this very large and open space to envelope you with a cozy, natural feel.
